Evergreen Capital Pledges to Donate a Minimum of 1% of Time, Profits, and Services to Charities

 

Evergreen Capital Advisors has joined Pledge 1%, a global movement to create a new normal for companies of all sizes and stages to have a positive social impact through their business. Evergreen Capital is joining thousands of companies around the world who have committed to Pledge 1% of either their product, profit, equity, and/or staff time to a charity of their choosing.

What will the partnership mean in practice?

"Evergreen Capital has made a commitment to donating a minimum of 1% of our Time, Profits, and Services to charity. We also commit to providing free online courses in job training, career development, and personal finance, as well as providing free expertise or otherwise volunteering our time."

What gave you the idea to Pledge 1%?

"I have been personally active in fighting youth homelessness since 1998. When I was young, I experienced firsthand the stress of housing insecurity, as well as the benefit of having a supportive family and community. Over the years, I have tried to pay those benefits forward through efforts such as volunteering, creating pathways to housing for young people, working with the local housing authority, and donating time and resources to nonprofits that serve homeless youth.

 

We were discussing our contributions to the community and our desire to make a sustainable, ongoing social impact. One of our team members suggested joining Pledge 1%, and without hesitation, every person in our company unanimously agreed. This seemed like a fantastic way to formalize our commitment with an organization that has a track record of encouraging other companies to take the pledge and leverage their business as a force for good."
